Chemistry is the study of the organization, manipulation, and characterization of matter.
The courses I teach are guided by this master narrative about chemistry. These are lower and upper division undergraduate courses, as well as graduate and elective courses. While the coursework is often presented in discrete units, it is important to know that in chemistry, there are rules that connect all the parts into a larger, coherent, and useful whole.
General ChemistryThis initial course sequence in chemistry introduces the student to the basics of atoms, molecules, matter, and reactions.
|
Physical ChemistryStudents learn the roles and rules of statistical and quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and kinetics in the reaction and characterization of matter in the chemical sciences.
|
Computational MethodsThis course teaches students the skills necessary to model and simulate a wide range of chemical phenomena.
